How much does a small business website cost in 2026?

It depends less on the website and more on who does the work. Here are the three main ways to get a site, what each costs as of October 2026, and what keeps costing after launch.

Updated October 7, 2026 · By Drew

DIY website builders: lowest price, your time

Builders like Wix and Squarespace give you hosting, templates and an editor. You do the design, the writing and the updates. They fit people who enjoy building and have the time. The cost you don't see is your own hours.

Prices as of October 2026:

  • Wix: $17, $29 or $39 a month billed annually (Light, Core, Business). Monthly billing costs more.
  • Squarespace: $16, $23, $39 or $99 a month billed annually (Basic, Core, Plus, Advanced).
  • Squarespace billed monthly: $25, $36 or $56 (Basic, Core, Plus).
  • Squarespace's Advanced plan dropped from $139 in August 2026, so you may still see the old price.

Pay-monthly, done for you: no big check

Several shops build your site for $0 down, or close to it, and charge a flat monthly fee that covers hosting and changes. Most have a 12-month minimum, us included, so read the term. They fit people who want a professional site without paying for it all at once, and who don't want to update it themselves.

Examples, as of October 2026:

  • Oak Harbor Web Designs: $175 a month, $0 down, 12-month minimum
  • Ravencrest: $150 a month with a 12-month minimum
  • Foundry: $197 a month with a 12-month commitment
  • Redefine Web: $199 a month, 12-month initial term
  • Skosh: $69, $99 or $149 a month, $0 down, 12-month plan, then month to month

One-time custom builds: own it outright

You pay for the build once and own the site. Hosting and updates are separate: a monthly hosting fee, a maintenance plan, or your own time. This fits people who have the budget, want to own the code, and have a plan for updates.

Some pay-monthly shops offer this too. As of October 2026, Ravencrest lists $3,800 up front plus $25 a month for hosting, and Foundry lists $3,900 one time plus $29 a month. Our own-it option is a $2,500 build, then $35 a month for hosting.

Ongoing costs every website has

  • Domain: about $10 to $20 a year for a .com
  • Hosting: included with builders and most pay-monthly plans, separate with one-time builds
  • Email at your own domain: usually a separate monthly cost from an email provider
  • Changes: your time if you make them, or a plan or hourly rate if someone else does
  • Add-ons: booking, online stores, logos and extra pages often cost extra with any option
